BEL Utility Truck Runs Over Bicycle

There will be no more joy rides with this bicycle anytime soon! One of our avid readers sent us these pictures that he took last week when the driver of the Belize Electricity Limited Bucket Truck ran over a bicycle. According to our “YOU” Reporter that was at the scene of the accident, the lady on the bicycle managed to jump off seconds before the large front tire of the utility truck toppled and ran over it. Luckily the owner of the bicycle was not hurt, but as you can imagine, the cycle was flattened like a pancake by the tons of pounds that the vehicles weighs. The accident occurred in front of Tropic Air Cargo where there is a usual congestion of traffic. Motorists are urged to take due care and attention.

I have seen too many workers injured and even killed working with unsafe construction equipment. It seems to be all about the bottom dollar to most manufacturers which is why you have to be very careful when purchasing new machinery.
