Rock In Peace (RIP), the San Pedro High School Band, was at Wet Willy’s on Thursday, April 16, 2009, rocking the house as they held a fundraiser to help the band members raise enough money to purchase equipment. The band also needs funds in order to participate in the Festival of Arts that will take place next month. Wet Willy’s was more than happy to supply the band with a venue where the band could showcase their music and allow residents to listen to the talented group. The high school band is seeking funds to purchase the following equipment: Microphones and stands, a couple of amplifiers, monitors, cable, cymbals for drum set and rider. Anybody wishing to donate money or supply the band with the needed equipment can contact Band Director Natalie Arceo at 601-8651 or Nancey of Wet Willy’s at 622-4110. The Rock in Peace band will be competing in the first phase of the Festival of Arts which will be an elimination competition here in San Pedro at the Rafael Angel Auditorium on May 5 and 6, 2009. San Pedro and Caye Caulker will be competing to make the top 15 bands at the Festival of Arts that takes place in Belize City.
On hand on Thursday’s fundraiser was Councilor Pablo Ico who presented the band members with T-shirt uniforms. The logo design and printing was donated by Designing Solutions.
Band Members include: Vans Banyos (Rhythm Guitar), Derrick Banyos (Lead Guitar), Lucio Nuñez (Guitars/Vocals), William Portillo (Basist), Guillermo Rivero (Drummer) and Guadalupe Salgado (Female Vocalist).
