Traffic Accident at Escalante Subdivision

Information is still forthcoming about a traffic accident that took place yesterday, August11, at the Escalante Subdivison. 'You Reporters" for Ambergris Today informed us about the collision between a taxi and a golf cart around mid afternoon. Official information from the Police Department has not made it to our office, but sources at the scene told us that a woman with a baby on hand and another small toddler next to her were on the golf cart as it struck the taxi coming in the opposite direction. Apparently the woman and toddler received minor bumps and bruises, but no serious injuries were apparent. More on this in tomorrow's edition of Ambergris Today Newspaper.

Hol Chan in CNN Travel’s Top 10

Underwater photographer and adventurer Tanya Burnett-Palmer of Coastal Living shares her favorite places to sightsee beneath the waves with CNN Travel. She puts San Pedro, Belize’s Hol Chan Marine Reserve in the 10 Top Spots to Snorkel. Here is her description of the marine reserve:

Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Belize
One of the western Caribbean's great delights resides roughly 20 minutes by boat from Ambergris Cay. On my first visit, I was mesmerized by dozens of nurse sharks, jacks, stingrays and grunts cavorting with snorkelers over turtle grass and reefs. Here, I have swum with the most substantial wild fish -- normally only seen by scuba divers -- in only 6 to 10 feet of water.
On-site secret: Float from the feeding area to the shallow reefs and discover a dreamlike setting of sun-dappled coral and tiny reef denizens. Keep an eye out for: eagle rays. On more than one occasion I've been thrilled to see a majestic spotted eagle ray soaring through the reefs.

Other top spots to snorkel include Dean's Blue Hole, Long Island, Bahamas; Crystal River, Florida; Rockhouse, Negril, Jamaica; Pigeon Cay, Honduras and Papalaua Wayside Park, Maui, Hawaii. (Click on image above to view entire article)

Cristian Castro in Concert at Costa Maya Fest

The "Azul" singer highlighted the Costa Maya Festival on Saturday, August 8, 2009. Cristian Castro presented a spectacular show that had people singing in the rain. A brief shower pretty much cooled people of as they refused to find shelter midpoint Cristian's performance. The superstar of international caliber sang for close to two hours. More pictures and videos to come.

Cristian Castro Causes a Commotion

It was a mob scene much like the Hollywood Paparazzi chasing after Britney Spears, as Cristian Castro made his arrival to the Isla Bonita this afternoon on board the Reef Rocket of Discovery Expeditions. One of the most gigantic crowds, ever, littered the beach in front of Cholo’s Sports Bar as people wanted to get their first glance at the international artist. Cristian’s escorts had the terrible task of attempting to disperse the sea of people in order for Cristian to make it to his golf cart. He was escorted to his hotel room immediately after. Cristian is scheduled to perform at the Costa Maya Festival tonight, August 8.
