San Pedro Water Jets Boat Runs Aground


At about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, a boat belonging to San Pedro Water Jets International had a minor accident as it ran aground into a mangrove area on the lagoon side.Reports are that the boat arrived from Chetumal, Quintana Roo and was transporting international passengers to the neighboring Island of Caye Caulker. There were 40 passengers on board and there were no casualties reported. Several boats were dispatched to the area to render assistance to the passengers.

BTB Tourism Awards 2010 Winners

The Belize Tourism Board held its 10th Annual National Tourism Awards last night, June 10, 2010, at the Best Western Biltmore Plaza in Belize City. Ambergris Today was present as the BTB handed out awards honoring businesses and individuals for their exceptional services in the tourism industry.


Handing out the awards were Minister of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Hon Manuel Heredia and Director of Tourism Ms. Seleni Matus. Top winners from San Pedro were Blue Water Grill for Restaurant of the Year, Mrs. Celi McCorkle of San Pedro Holiday Hotel – Lifetime Achievement Award and Xanadu Resort – Green Globe Award Certification. Panama Music Posts Makano Video

Panama Music has posted a video of Makano in concert in San Pedro where it shows the massive crowd that attended the show and sings along with the superstar. How many people can you recognize in the video? Can you spot yourself?

Costa Maya "Noche Sanpedrana"


Last night, Friday, July 31, The San Pedro Lions Club hosted the Costa Maya Delegates in what has become a very popular event on the island, Noche SanPedrana. It is an event where residents of San Pedro can get to know the eight contestants of the Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant a little bit better. The delegates were introduced to the gathering and mingled the entire night with anybody who was willing to approach them. The ladies also took part in a mini fashion show where they modeled clothing from top boutiques on the island including Moondancer, Sunsations, Island Vibes, among others.

Maya Island Schedules Cancun Flights

Maya Island Air will start flying into Cancun and Guatemala City starting July 8, 2009. Here is a pic of the aircraft you can be flying in if you choose a faster route to Cancun. The airline is also running flights to San Pedro Sula and Roatan in Honduras.
