With the incentive of the Ministry of Education and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), a fire drill was held at the San Pedro Roman Catholic School on Friday, May 7, 2010. With over 800 students attending the school, the Ministry of Education saw it fit to perform such a drill to test the readiness and effectiveness of the school’s evacuation procedures. It took the school five minutes to completely evacuate the entire staff and student body. Officials stated that the school did relatively good for only having one emergency exit; the required time for the evacuation should be only two minutes. A representative from the school told us that they will be working hard to reduce the evacuation time so as to secure the safety of everybody.
