Pablo Ariola is Garifuna King 2008
Pablo Ariola was selected as San Pedro's first Garifuna King this past weekend as part of the Garifuna Settlement celebration that will lead up to Garifuna Settlement Day on Wednesday, November 19, a public and bank holiday throughout the nation of Belize.
Pablo Ariola competed with two other contestants for the first ever title of Garifuna King which included Andy Carr and Delroy Zuniga. The competition included plenty of Garifuna drumming, cultural dances and skits.
The Garifuna council of San Pedro decided to spice things up a bit this year by holding a Garifuna King competition instead of their customary Miss Garifuna Pageant. Read the entire story of the Garifuna King Competition on this Thursday's edition of Ambergris Today Newspaper.
