Abby Marin in Costa Del Mar Documentary

Remember when Costa Del Mar hired a film crew to travel to Belize and feature fly fishermen in the country where permit fishing is amongst the finest in the world? Costa Del Mar was in San Pedro in July of last year where they followed local fisherman and tour guide Abby Marin in his daily activities as a husband, fisherman and tour guide.

This week Costa Del Mar has released the website “Currents of Belize” where they feature the documentary, staring Abner “Abby” Marin of San Pedro and Lincoln Westby of Stan Creek in Southern Belize

The website reads: Belize is exploding with new economic life as tourists flock to its coast. Yet as developers rush to keep up with demand, they're destroying the very thing that brings in the tourists and their money; the sea and all its many creatures. Perhaps nobody is experiencing these changes more intimately than Abby Marin and Lincoln Westby; fly fishing guides who spend their days out on the flats chasing the elusive Permit.

Award-winning filmmaker Bradley Beesley follows Abbie and Lincoln as they navigate the tension between the country's commitments to protecting its natural resources versus protecting its human resources. Will condos, golf carts and foreign money force the soul of a country that lives and dies by the water into submission? Time will tell. We at Ambergris Today really loved the documentary and highly recommend that everybody watch it. Visit Currents of Belize Here.
