The San Pedro Town Council and the San Pedro Liquor Licensing Board will like to inform the general public that no liquor will be sold on Good Friday April 10th, 2009 from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. Only establishments with a Restaurant license will sell liquor on Good Friday. Any establishment apart from a restaurant license found selling liquor will result in cancellation of their license.

Children's Art Group at Central Park
The San Pedro Children's Art Group spent a morning drawing in Central Park. They sat in the sand, on the swings and on benches and sketched pictures of their island. After their sketches were completed, they added color and shading with colored pencils.
The Children's Art Group met during the first week of Spring Break. The remainder of the workshop was held at the Lions' Den. The Children's Art Group would like to thank the Lions' Club for the use of their Den; instructors for the workshop were Kathie Mantello and Judy Schreiner.

Medina's Mobile Home Destroyed by Fire
Ambergris Today Newspaper was first at the scene of a fire that destroyed a mobile home on Saturday, April 4, 2009. The San Pedro Fire Department was quick to the scene of the fire that broke out in the San Pablo Area at around 4p.m. and completely burnt down one of the homes of Medina’s Construction which is part of their worker’s housing lot and also next door to a carpentry workshop.
High winds caused the fire to quickly engulf the mobile home but its outside aluminum siding prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby homes. Police did arrest a man who was suspected of starting the blaze. Residents in the neighborhood say that the same man was on a drunken rampage the night before the fire and was causing a disturbance that same day minutes before the fire started.

Bomb Threat at Corozal High and Junior College
Normally, stories about bomb threats do not make the news. But following the various grenade attacks in Belize City, authorities countrywide are taking a closer look at all bomb threats. On Thursday, April 2, classes at Corozal Community College and Corozal Junior College located in San Andres Village were interrupted following a bomb threat that was called into the high school.
According to Corozal Police around 9:55 a.m. a male person called the high school’s secretary and told her to warn the high school’s administration that there was a bomb planted on the high school’s compound. The bomb, according to the male person, would have gone off at exactly 10:20 a.m. and that the high school should be evacuated immediately.
The high school’s principal immediately commenced the evacuation. Corozal Junior College was also evacuated as it shares the campus with the high school. Police were called out to the scene and secured the area until the Belize Defense Force’s bomb experts arrived. After a sweep of the campus, the bomb experts declared the buildings safe around 1:30 p.m. and classes resumed as scheduled. Police are treating the incident as a prank call.

Mexico's Daylight Savings Time
· In Mexico, clocks go forward one hour on Sunday 5 April.
· The Daylight Saving Time will last until 25 October 2009.
Belmopan, 31 March 2009. - The Embassy of Mexico to Belize informs that on Sunday, 5 April, Mexico begins Daylight Saving Time or Summer Time (Horario de Verano). On that day at 2:00 am clocks go forward one hour to 3:00 am. That means that Mexico’s local time will run 1 hour ahead of Belize’s local time until 25 October 2009.
For example, on Sunday 5 April, 9:00 am in Belize local time will be in Mexico 10:00 am local time.
For those traveling within Mexico, the Embassy suggests to change your clock to move one hour ahead before going to sleep in the evening on Saturday, 4 April. That would ensure that you will keep on with local time while you are in Mexico.

Dorian's Angels at SP Fitness Club
As we all know, Dorian’s Angels are always out and about enthused and eager to get involved into something astounding to do! This week Perlita, Sofie and Scarleth heard about this new and exciting sport/exercise of kickboxing, so they headed to the San Pedro Fitness Club where they worked their butts off with the Kickboxing trainer Laura Goldman…did some workouts at the gym with trainer Cindy Carlson, and then played some tennis under the sun, which indeed was their favorite!
