Isla Bonita Trick or Treaters Visit Ambergris Today

 

Students of Isla Bonita Elementary School hit the streets with their Halloween costumes for some good-ole Trick or Treat fun through the streets of San Pedro. Businesses and assigned homes were more than happy to hand out some goodies to the children.

Isla Bonita Elementary Parades

The students of Isla Bonita Elementary came out to parade this morning, as the school celebrates its 10th Anniversary. Showing off much pride for their school, the students took to the streets of town lead by their street Marching Band and Pom Pom Girls. Following behind were the faculty, student body and even some alumni of the school. Congratulations to Isla Bonita Elementary School!

Open Day at Isla Bonita Elementary School

 

Yesterday, October 6, Isla Bonita Elementary School held an Open Day from 1p.m. to 4p.m. as part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations. The students transformed their classrooms into display centers and presentation rooms as they showcased what they have been learning since the beginning of the school year. On Friday at 6p.m. the school will feature two fabulous movies at their playground turned Drive In Movie Theater. The movies are free to the public and snacks will be available for sale by the PTA  who is raising funds for new additions to the school.

Weekend Graduations

The final set of graduates for 2010 were honored this past week at ceremonies held for their respective school. San Pedro Junior College, Maestro Reyes School of Knowledge, ABC Pre-School, San Pedro Pre-School and Isla Bonita Elementary all held commencement exercises this past week and over the weekend.

Taking Musical Note

Music Appreciation Lessons by Free Music School

Every year Dr. Floyd Jackson offers an inspirational music lesson to the children at each school in San Pedro. The lesson consists of music history, theory, ear training and demonstrations on violin, flute, trumpet, piano and guitar. Ambergris Today caught up with Dr. Jackson at Isla Bonita Elementary School where he presented his lessons to two different age groups. He was accompanied by Brandi Paige and Tull Rae who play at Fido’s with the band Love Paradigm. They played rock music for the students, much to their enjoyment.
