Letty Lara, Miss World Belize, arrived yesterday from South Africa after a month long trip for the Miss World Pageant. She brings with her long-lasting memories, friendships and the satisfaction of having proudly represented her country at the Miss World Pageant. When you see her, remember to congratulate her for a job well done. Congrats Letty!
1st Runner-Up: Mexico, Miss World 2009: Gibraltar, 2nd Runner-Up: South Africa
Gibraltar has won the coveted crown as Miss World 2009, triumphing out of 112 beautiful and talented young women in the 59th Miss World Final from Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, City of Gold. The pageant air live on E!TV on Saturday, December 12 at 9a.m. Of course, residents of San Pedro were glued to their television set as everybody was eager to get glimpses of the Miss Belize contestant, Letty Lara. We can definitely say that everyone who watched the show was very pleased as this was the first time that they show so much of Miss Belize at an international pageant. Letty Lara did an exceptional job at the pageant and we are so very proud of her. Today she finds herself in London where Sir. Michael Ashcroft has sent a private car for her and some of the contestants and will be given a tour of the city.
An entire town, San Pedro Town, is expected to have their eyes riveted to the television screen on December 12, to capture the highlights of the Miss World Pageant. The reason is that our very own Sanpedrana, Letty Lara, will be on the limelight as she represents Belize in this coveted pageant. Some people are concerned whether they’ll be able to get it in their cable network at home.
The good news is that some of the biggest television broadcasters around the world will be televising the Miss World 2009 Final this Saturday, December 12. These include a debut broadcast for E! Entertainment in the United States which boasts 600 million home viewers internationally. Other broadcasters include SABC3 in the host country of South Africa, CCTV in China, Zee TV in India, Paris Premier in France, RCTI in Indonesia and Venevision in Venezuela.
Here in San Pedro, local cable provider Coral Cable Vision supplies two of these major broadcasters: E! Entertainment on Channel 83 and Zee TV (Hindu) on Channel 94. So residents of San Pedro will be able to see Letty Lara, Miss Belize World, represent her country at the Miss World Pageant. The Miss World 2009 Telecast will take place at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Hall 2, on Saturday, December 12. Letty with Miss World 2008
Miss World contestant's spent two days at Legend Safari Resort and got to experience the wild African bush in this luxury golf resort. The 22,000 hectare game reserve has the 'Big Five' and is in Waterberg Biosphere. The contestants spent the days on safari seeing animals in the wild as well as getting up close with some of the younger animals reared on the reserve. They braved bad rain, but were very excited to see two Cheetahs that were eating a recent kill. The weather was so bad that the drive had to be cut short. In the evening there was a dinner and the girls were entertained by African dancers and musicians. At a gala dinner on the first night they were given an interactive drumming workshop where they learnt to play courtesy of the African Drum Rhythm Band. From there it was off to Sun City.
