Student films documentary in Belize

This week Ambergris Today met with Kourtney Welte, a senior student at Brigham Young University of Provo, Utah. Kourtney was accompanied by her professor of Broadcasting Journalism- Robert Walz and Dale Green, Emmy Award – winning photographer and producer.
Kourtney, along with her team, spent ten days in the country and most of their filming was done in the Cayo District in San Ignacio Town where they documented a group of volunteers from Help International.

“The group of volunteers is doing a pilot project of sanitation system using earthworms,” commented Welte to Ambergris Today. “We also went diving at Hol Chan and Blue and filmed about the importance of water for the country both for sanitation and for the tourism industry.”
After being edited, the documentary will be 30 minutes long and should air in February/March of 2011 on BYU/TV – Utah’s local channel. Be on the lookout for the documentary which can be viewed on Coral Cable Vision channel 59.
