Mr. Angel Nuñez Turns 58!

We don’t think that San Pedro High School will ever stop celebrating Angel Nunez’s birthday. Although Mr. Nuñez is no longer teaching at the school his heart and spirit remains there. The school still loves its former Principal who now is loving his retirement. Today the entire faculty visited Mr. Nuñez home at 5a.m. giving him a Mañanita surprise and during the morning the entire school held a big party in his honor. There was plenty of dancing, singing and performances that had Mr. Nuñez laughing and cheering. Happy Birthday Angel Nuñez.

REMEMBER that Mr. Nuñez officially launches his first ever 25 Years Ago book tonight at the R. Angel Auditorium at San Pedro High School. The program starts at 7p.m. His book will be on sale and he will be on hand for autographs.

San Pedro High on a Winning Spree

They say that when it rains it pours, and when it is in your favor, you certainly don’t mind a strong shower or a thunderstorm. The first win for SPH was in the Belize District and then the National Food and Nutrition Competition. Just about a month ago another good luck shower came with a donation received of 40 computers for a second computer lab to cover a new subject, EDP &M (Electronic Data Processing & and Management). Round four in their winning streak was their first place Championship in the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Competition in which they represented the country of Belize. Gaby Miranda and Pedro Garcia got a big reception at the airstrip when they arrived back to San Pedro. They then proceeded to parade to the school grounds.

And this weekend, SPHs scored another first place in the Secondary North Regional basketball competition by earning the first place trophy in the male division by defeating Belize Rural High School who were the defending champs. The icing on the cake was first place win in the female basket ball division by defeating Muffles College, also the defending champs.

Let the winning showers continue for San Pedro High and congratulations to the entire student body, staff and administration. A salute to you from Ambergris Today for making San Pedro very proud.

There are a total of sixteen taxi drivers in the Central Park Taxi Association whom you can now distinguish from other taxi associations by their white uniforms with their logo and the Amigos del Mar logo. The Central Park Taxi Association challenges other taxi associations to get their uniforms since it makes them look more professional.

Gas Prices Drop Again! YEAH!

Belmopan 28, November 2008 – The ministry of Finance wishes to advice the public of lower Pump Prices for Fuel Products that came into effect as of midnight November 27, 2008. In San Pedro regular gasoline dropped from $7.55 to $6.24 and diesel fuel from $7.45 to $6.62.

The Belize City pump prices per gallon for fuel products have been reduced as follows: Premium gasoline from $7.41 to $6.16, regular gasoline from $7.05 to $5.74, Kerosene oil from $6.97 to $5.97 and diesel oil from $6.96 to $6.13. Prices for fuel products in the districts will also be reduced commensurately. The Ministry of Finance advises that his action is in keeping with Government’s commitment to pass on in full any decrease in the acquisition cost to the Belizean Consumers.

These further reductions in the cost of fuel at the pump represent an additional savings to the relief already experienced by Belizean consumers as a result of the recent implementation of a lower flat tax by this Dean Barrow government, in place of the Revenue Replacement Duty (RRD) left in place by the last administration.

The Ministry also informs the public that, in keeping with Government policy, any future price changes in acquisition cost will be passed on fully to the prices a the pump.
