Nigga Dj Flex Arrives in San Pedro

Amongst the screaming cheers of his fans, DJ Flex arrived this afternoon at around 3pm in preparation for his concert set tonight at midnight. Mayor Elsa Paz welcomed DJ Flex as he also greeted and hyped his fans inviting them to his concert.

Barry Bowen Dies in Plane Crash

The private plane of Belizean Entrepreneur Barry Bowen crashed just short of the San Pedro Airstrip around 5:30pm on Friday, February 26. Barry Bowen has been confirmed dead along with three other adults and their two children. Eye witnesses tell Ambergris Today that the plane lost altitude and hit a roof structure before it crashed as the plane approached the San Pedro Airstip. More details as it becomes available.

Lorrie Morgan at Paradise Theater

Lorrie Morgan presented two fabulous shows at the Paradise Theater this week. Located at Reef Village, the Paradise Theater opened its doors during its inaugural week to country superstar Lorrie Morgan who was very well received by a large San Pedro audience at both shows.

R.C. Marching Band Heading to Band Fest

The San Pedro R.C. School Marching Band is heading to Band Fest and they need the community's assistance to raise funds for their trip to represent San Pedro. Luau Party at Island Academy Tonight!

ALOHA! Families and adults are invited to enjoy a “Party in Paradise” on Friday, February 26. The Island Academy is having a festive luau featuring great food and fun for all ages. There will be BINGO, Karaoke, Roulette Wheel, Blackjack, Chalupa en Espanol, and even the Limbo!Feast will feature pibil pork, shrimp skewers, and grilled mini-burgers. Appointments Required for US Citizen Services

Starting Monday, March 1, 2010, all U.S. citizens seeking new or renewed passports, additional passport pages, notarial, and Consular Report of Birth Abroad services at the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan will need to schedule an appointment. Other services will continue to be available on a walk-in basis during new walk-in hours listed below. Emergencies that involve the death, injury, hospitalization, or arrest of an American citizen will continue to be handled without prior appointment.

This change is being implemented so that sufficient time and attention can be focused by consular staff on each service request.

To make an appointment, please visit the citizen services page of the U.S. Embassy website at http://belize.usembassy.gov/citizen_services.html, review the information on required documents for each service, and schedule the appointment online.

Same-day appointments for passports lost due to accident, theft, or robbery will be available during the service hours listed below, or by phone request, as appropriate. Please note that overlooking that a passport has expired (or is about to expire) when making travel arrangements does not constitute an emergency.

Non-appointment services are provided Monday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00, Monday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00, and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00. Non-appointment services include questions about U.S. social security benefits, U.S. veteran benefits, voting, tax filing, consular registrations, passport pickup, non-emergency requests for assistance, and general inquiries.

For emergency services, the American Citizen Services office at the Embassy is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Americans requiring emergency services on weekends, holidays, or outside of normal business hours should contact the Embassy Duty Officer at 610-5030.

Belize Electricity Limited advises its customers in San Pedro Town that the supply of electricity will be temporarily interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 26, 2010. Areas to be affected: All of Pescador Drive, Almond Street, Coconut Drive, Boca del Rio Drive, DFC Sub Division, Elliot Sub Division, Lagoon Street, Tropical Wave Street and surrounding areas. Castillo’s Hardware 10th Anniversary Raffle

On Friday, February 19, Castillo’s Do It Best Hardware celebrate its tenth anniversary and held a grand anniversary raffle of $10,000 in which ten lucky customers won $1,000 each. Mr. & Mrs. Alfonso Castillo were very thankful to their customers for their continuous support since their inception in February 19, 2000. Castillo’s Hardware moved to its own building in August of 2002 and since then have maintained a staff of 13 employees, including Mr. & Mrs. Castillo.
